Are you ready to take the risk?
At the end of August, I traveled to Utah for a weekend retreat with a group of coaches who also use the Habit Finder assessment and curriculum with their clients. The time we spend together is a beautiful blend of learning and fun, and sometimes both at the same time.
One afternoon, about 12 coaches took three UTVs up into the mountains to ride some trails. Depending on who is driving, this experience can be a gorgeous scenic drive or it can raise the hair on the back of your neck as you hold on for dear life!
Here’s a little clip of video to give you a taste of our adventure:
I was in a machine with Luella and Alex. This was Luella’s first time driving, and we discovered she has more than a little dare devil hidden behind her sweet smile! Some parts of the trail are winding, filled with tight turns and steep walls, while others are straight stretches. We hit a part of the trail while Luella was driving that was a straight-away, and when I say she gunned it, I mean, she GUNNED it.
I had a life-changing experience in this moment.
First, my stomach dropped. I screamed at the top of my lungs and gripped the handlebar in front of me like I was on a roller coaster.
My first instinct was to say to Luella, “SLOW DOWN! This is DANGEROUS!” (And it may have been…just a smidge…dangerous!)
But then, I had another second impression, a distinct, clear whisper said to me, “Surrender to it. Let go and feel the loss of control and surrender to it. Take the risk. It will be worth it.”
WHAT?!?!? I don’t want to surrender control and do things that feel scary! I want to be safe and measured and…perfect.
And yet, here I was looking at a straight, flat stretch of road ahead and I knew in that moment that this stretch symbolized the next couple of months for me. Summer has come to an end, and it’s time for me to take action that creates growth, even if it scares me to death!
And so I would like to offer the same challenge to you…do the thing that blows your hair back. Scream at the top of your lungs if you have to, feel the fear, but push that pedal to the metal!
Don’t think – just DO!
Take action!
It’s time to take a ride!
